Opened in 1964 the Historical Museum of Vista Alegre was the fulfillment of a project that had been outlining since the beginning of operation of the Factory Vista Alegre. It was, however, under the guidance of Gustavo Ferreira Pinto Basto, administrator between 1881 and 1921, which initiated the movement of a systematic collection of objects that were scattered by the company's premises, carrying out your organization briefly.
Around 1920 are the first installations, however the Museum as intellectual and physical space organized and open to the public arises only in the 60s of the twentieth century. In 2001 underwent a thorough renovation to modernize the space and content in an effort to bring the collection to their audiences.
Integrated into complex Porcelain Factory of Vista Alegre, the building where the museum currently occupies one wing of the old workshops of the company.
